On the band's Internet web site, it is explained that the would-be suicide is Hell on Earth's way of protesting physician-assisted suicide.

Protesting physician-assisted suicide? So they want people to kill themselves without help? LOL.

I read this the first time a few days ago and was sickened by it. Rereading it made me once again realize how absolutely perverse this is. If the suicide does in fact take place, I would be somewhat pleased to find in the news an article about the murder of all the members of the band.

It seems like nothing more than a ploy...yuck! igust;

I think the reason why it's illegal is because failed suicides can legally be taken in for treatment. If it were legal then there would be nothing the state could do to help them get better.

Suicide is mainly illegal for the reason most insurance will not cover a suicide attempt.

Therefore the state must take care of them and tax payers pay for it.

If you succeed there really is nothing you have to worry about though

What is illegal in most states is assisting a suicide. That person is not dead and s/he can be arrested.

I actually just looked up the statues to see what my state said on the matter.

§ 14-17.1. Crime of suicide abolished.
The common-law crime of suicide is hereby abolished as an
offense. (1973, c. 1205.)
