I can get this half-price plus discount via an employee friend at BB:

He doesn't know much about it except that it's sold pretty well (he's an x-box guy)

As for LCD monitors, I've never been impressed at all. Yes I'm one of those people. I've held steadfastly to my 22" NEC CRT for almost 8 years now because the fact remains the image quality is better, NO ghosting, none, zero, zip, don't need to save space and have never been concerned with monitor aesthetics.

But alas...Blu-ray. The fact I now have a Blu-ray burner and LOVE the HD quality I get on my 40" plasma (which unfortunately I cannot use as my monitor cause it's on the other side of my house). I already have an ATI HD4850 video card so all that's left is a monitor with true HD support and which DOESN'T suck for games.

Does anyone have any opinions about this model, or have had gaming experience with it?
Thanks in advance...!

Can anybody look over the specs and tell me if this is a good monitor, for games as well as video...?
I just found out I only have a 24-hour window to grab this thing...and even though it's a deal, I would totally pass on it if the quality's not all that it can be...thanks!

People over at the egg and amazon seem to like it.. take that for what it's worth. shrug. For half price PLUS a discount? Like $200? I wouldn't even think twice.

22" NEC CRT!?! Diamontron GOODNESS, I'm jealous. I have a 22" Trintron. I go on Craigslist once a week looking for Diamontron's in my area. I hope you like your LCD, maybe one day I'll have to switch too :(

I know, it ain't easy..and I'm totally ready NOT to be happy with this thing. Every now and then I browse the latest LCDs at BestBuy or J&R and compare to my Diamontron, they are a sorry lot...but maybe I'll get lucky with this thing. I do love Blu-ray so something's gotta give...

No doubt. I'd take it for half price + discount if you don't want it.

# Ultrafast 5 ms response time
# 1000:1 contrast ratio (3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio); 400 cd/m² brightness

great response time, contrast is good too....I would not be worried about it ghosting...I have a samsung with the same specs, just a 22inch.

I have an NEC/Mitisubushi Diamondtron. About 3 years old now and is still going strong. I won't be getting an LCD till this thing starts to die.

Has ghosting been an issue in most decent lcd's in the past few years? I didn't get my first one till a few years ago.

Ghosting was only slightly noticeable on my Samsung 191T that I purchased in the summer of 2003. It has since been replaced with a 24" dell and a 40" samsung 4065F (LCD TV). Neither have any ghosting issues... and I haven't seen any issues on really any modern LCD for quite some time. For the price, I would jump on that sammy... hell if I could get it for that price I would buy one right now (and I hardly need a new monitor).

Got it...tested it...
The verdict: it doesn't...suck.

Movie watching, particular Blu-ray is highly satisfying which is what I was expecting, since plenty of digital techs at work watch hi-def trailers on their 30" lcds and usually they look pretty good.

Games, however, I wasn't expecting much...but I have to say, again, it doesn't suck...!

About a year and a half ago I tried to game on a friends lcd, a high-end 24" Dell model which was all the rage then (and was based, according to an IT guy I knew, on Apple's lcd core...or vice versa? don't fully remember) anyway it was considered the creme de la creme of lcds and I still saw plenty of ghosting during fast action gaming a la Call of Duty 2 & Half-life 2 Deathmatch.

But I will concede that so far, in Oblivion and COD4 and Jericho and WOW, I see no ghosting...and I was really looking for it, so I'm quite impressed.
Contrast is good although blacks are not as black as my Diamontron but that's to be expected...

So that's it. I'm liking this thing so far...but, being an lcd noob, are there any tips for making this thing last as long as possible? I have it set at 50 Brightness & 50 contrast, which looks good and I think is a sensible non-strenuous setting.
I don't have any dead-pixels (which I was REALLY HAPPY about) and I don't want any EVER! Are there steps you can take to avoid that or is it just something that happens with lcd via normal wear and tear...?

Thanks in advance:)
