Screen captures aren't much use since they depend very much on your reception and cable quality.

Screen caps are kind of pointless unless they are an uncompressed image from an ucompressed source 🙂 I have a Leadtek, and the image quality is very good when you capture interlaced using ANYTHING but the factory software. The on-the-fly deinterlacer with the factory software is okay for watching TV on the comp, but caps look like ass. Better to capture interlaced, and deinterlace during processing with Avisynth or Vdub.

I also have a Prolink XCapture that uses the newer 10 bit Conexant chip (bt8x8 cards use 8 bit.) My suggestion would be to spend a little more and get something with the new chip. Check out Newegg.com, MSI, Prolink, and Asus (uses a Philips chip) all have cards out with the newest 10 bit chips. Drivers can be a little dodgy, but my Prolink has no problems with VirtualVCR. Can't post any .tiffs or .pngs right now, but trust me when I say the new chipset produces outstanding results w/lossless codecs, but also with "slightly" lossy ones like MJPEG.
