anybody have one those portable MP3/Cd players, specifically the $49 Fry's model?

they are only a few good ones. most of them made by sonic blue. I doubt that 49 would be worth it. Sure it will work, but I don't think you should expect much out of the sound quality.

I'd go with SP100 with latest firmware or Sp250...

The SP250, though costly, its just too good. Nice backlit screen, FM tuner, upgradable firmware, excellent sound quality. 8 min shock protection....never skips.

I gave my little brother one that was under $50 and it's pretty awesome....(Of course, that $50 was a very lucky Ebay bid)

I just picked up the $39 one from Fry's and it's really not bad at all. It's worth it, plays my MP3s, and I'm not in constant fear that I may drop it or break it or something.

Fry's has a very liberal return policy; check it out and if you don't like it, bring it back.

it's an MP3 CD Player. The only gripe i have with it, is, when you turn it off, it'll go back to track #1 when you turn it back on.
