Anybody have experience with Liberty Mutual for insurance?

Do any of you ATOT'ers have experience dealing with Liberty Mutual for car/renter's insurance? My policy with my other insurance company is up and Liberty is giving me a better rate for the same coverage.

Just wanting some general feedback on how easy processing a claim was, if they were difficult in any way, etc. If you want to leave me a PM instead, that works too--I respect your privacy and don't share your opinions/stories with anybody. Thanks!

We moved around Thanksgiving last year & switched to Liberty. I play golf w/a State Farm agent & was going to go with him. He told me he couldn't match their price & I should go w/Liberty.

So far, they are just like every other ins. company. Take the money out every month right on time. No claims, so no problems yet. Hopefully someone who put in a claim will reply.

I just switched over to them. I live in Mass, where I was paying $1600 with my old insurance company. Liberty knocked my rate down to 780/yr. Same coverages.

I already love them 😛

Did a couple claims (this is back 20+ years ago) with no problems, then had one claim under my comprehensive that I had to fight them to pay out what was fair. I claimed on the comp insurance cuz it was a hit & run on my car while it was parked in a parking lot (they said do it comp, versus collision). I got 3 estimates, presented them to LM, and was told I'd get a check within a week.

My lowest estimate was for $700. My deductible was $100. These idiots sent me a check for $470. WTF??? I went down to their local offices, and they told me the difference was because they estimated the body work would run $17 an hour  !!! I asked them which chop shop they found reputable body work that cheap?? They assured me that the shop they referred to for that estimate was very reputable. I assured them that if they didn't get me a check for another $130, the next person they'd be talking to would be my lawyer.

I got the check for $130 about a week later. BUT, I should never had had to bug them about it, especially since they'd been more than happy to take my premiums for 5 years at that time! :|

Then, when California passed a new insurance initiative in 88, LM stopped carrying policies for anyone in Cali, since they thought the new law would hurt them. Nice of them, too, to let me know 2 weeks before my insurance was up for renewal that they were not going to renew! Gosh, thanks for all that notice!

Needless to say, that company will never get another penny from me, ever. You, however, might have better luck with them. Sure hope so!

I have them for car and property insurance - for what my townhome's homeowner insurance does not cover.

They are pretty much like any other insurance co. I put a claim in with them when my drunk neighbor burned down his condo that was attached to mine. Just like any other decent insurance company they took care of things. Nothing seemed fishy or anything. Some items were replaced, others were cleaned, etc. I'm still with them, and don't plan on switching (although i don't even know if you can switch insr companies when you are dealing with a claim.)

Just to add on to this

I'm covered under LM, have filed about 2 claims with them. Quick and painless, and they fought for me when needed.
