Sure is. Is there a SURE way of making it? Hell no. Not unless you have a couple hundred K and willing to stick in a gauranteed return investment!

My advice personally would be not to play with stocks but instead put whatever money you have available into an index fund or a mutual fund. Let somebody else handle it. Don't think that you have to do it yourself - and don't make the mistake of thinking you can do it better than a professional either!

Sure, just hop into your time machine. Go back to 1995, and invest in Dell and Microsoft. That's about the only way you can guarantee making any money in the stock market nowadays :)

Seriously though, don't start putting money in the stock market, and expect a huge return right away. Those days are over, and they won't return for a LONG time. If you want to make $10K quickly, you'll have to go out and earn it the old-fashioned way.

Not if you are an investor.
Now, if you are a trader, then that is possible, but you'll need an online discount broker. Possibly margin authorization to allow short selling and margin purchases. You'll need to monitor a group of volitile stocks EVERY day that you are invested in them and you'll have to leave good till cancelled limit buy and sell orders to realize your gains and purchase your shares. You will also need a couple of positive announcements by the company during that time. Also, you have to have money to make money, so don't think you can make ten grand in ten months without 5-10 grand to invest with. However, if you have 5 or 10 grand and you need it to purchase a truck you shouldn't "trade" with that money anyway.

Do yourself a favor and AFTER you buy your truck open up a Roth IRA for yourself with a Long-Term time horizon.

Hope this helped.

hehe, so you want to upgrade to a dakota? how about downgrading to a bicycle after you've lost all your money playing a game? the best money is hard earned money, so get a job and start working.

as for stock trading tips/secrets.......stay out of the market unless you've got years of training and experience under your belt.

Get the reading list off bobbrinker.com and study. Invest steadily over a lifetime and retire well off. If you invest at a steady monthly rate what you put in between twenty to thirty will be worth more at 65 than all the rest you put in from thirty to 65. Start with an indexed fundlike the Wishire 5000 also known as the total market fund because it pretty much represents the US economy.

It depends on how much you have to invest. If you have $10 million in cash, put it in the bank and you soon will get it.

If you have $5000 - $10000, go to a casino and play one hand of blackjack, you'll know if you can make that amount in 20 seconds.

only invest what you can afford to loose. LIVE by that statement. Many people do loose what they invest. Don't consider yourself better than everyone else.

In 1999, there was a period when my portfolio increased with a value of $700 a day. I ended up loosing all of the gain in 2 weeks later on.

An important thing to remember, you haven't actually "made" any money until you sell your shares, much in the same way that you haven't lost any until you sell them. Its only money on paper, theoretically. Be smart, if you feel you have made a resonable profit: SELL! SELL! SELL!

Buy now. The market is down. Invest in your own country and you'll feel better no matter what happens. If you know nothing about stock picking, consider indexing and/or mutual funds. If you need $5 - $10K in six months, get a part-time job.

Investing is putting money in the market for the long term. Trying to make a lot of money in a short time is just gambling. A while ago there were people quitting good jobs to play the market all day, since they were so sure they knew the secrets to making it big.

Some of those people are now applying for jobs where I work since they blew all their savings. We actually get resumes from people who used to be Vice Presidents of companies that say their last three years was spent doing day-trading of stocks. They actually quit high-paying, secure jobs because of greed, and ended up losing it all.

Jeffrey explained what day-trading is, but believe me, very few people make money at it.

Your expectations are unrealistic, and I would recommend doing yourself a favor and investing that money in a good mutual fund for the long term. Twenty years from now you will probably be very glad you did.

Might be a good time to pick up airline stocks. I tend to think that the airlines that survive this will eventually have their stock rebound.
