Anybody have an iPad KB Dock?

My wife has ditched her windows PC in favor of her iPad. She has been complaining that there isn't a way to print or do word processing. I explained to her that we can buy the pages app but we would need an "AirPrint" compatible printer.

She had no idea what I was talking about though....so for xmas I want to buy the app and get her the dock so she could type instead of using the touchscreen.

Does anybody out there own one? I spoke to someone at apple and its been discontinued. Amazon has a couple so I'm probably going to buy it there. If not then we can just prop up the iPad using the mag cover and I'll buy a BT keyboard.

Oh and it should be compatible with a iPad 2, right?

what I hate about the BT keyboard is after you're paired, you're stuck. There is no going to the iPad and using the software keyboard (until you unpair the BT KB)

I stopped using the BT KB for this reason.

I don't think so.

A dock that included a physical keyboard is available only for the original iPad, but both generations are compatible with Bluetooth keyboards that also work with Macs and PCs.

I assume the issue is that the iPad 2 is thinner, so it'll sit at an angle that puts stress on the dock connector. That might be fixable with some kind of spacer, but I have no idea. Probably better to just get a bluetooth keyboard and prop the iPad up with a regular dock or something similar.

I guess the keyboard dock didn't sell well enough to justify updating it.

Wow, glad I checked before I bought it. I'm not sure how well the BT KB and propping it up either using the poly cover or buying a dock will work.

Has anyone purchased an iOS iWork app and used the software kb to type out things?

I have used the dock/keyboard with both versions of the iPad without a problem.

From what I understand you can use the USB camera connection kit and gain USB keyboard support.

iWork is fine for word processing. Basic but fine.

You should check out Kohl's. I was just there today, and they had some brand's (can't recall the name. Not saying it was a shady/generic brand or anything.) BT KB dock. It just sat the iPad there and then you could pair up the keyboard. It wasn't an actual KB dock, it was a BT KB dock.

If I can find it on Kohl's website, I'll link you to it. I'm sure it's a pretty standard product however.

Well, I found a new one on ebay for $30 shipped. I felt it was a pretty good price to take a shot on. Hope my wife likes it!
