Goosemaster - This is in a small town where we have about 1 computer shop and they love to rip people that don't know jack about computers off

1. Well, download speed will vary from provider to provider. My ISP (I work for them and try to reason with them) Gives unlimited usage and bandwidth, but only runs at 256kb download. Upload speed, well it really sucks, but that is due to the way ours is set up here (main admins think they know everything but aren't even cisco certified... haha)
2. When the service first started out, I had pings of 30 almost all the time... Due to piss poor management by our admins, pings have went up to about 200... this wont be the case in most areas, I really don't think so, but our isp is struggling, so whatever they can do to get by they're going to try it.
3. The home tower we have is hooked up to our garage (that varies) and has went through 1 tornado (still standing!). It will ice up, but it never loses it's signal due to ice, rain, snow, extreme heat or extreme coldness. Very nice equipment.
4. Yep, I have a static IP address... some users run off of a static but proxy ip address, meaning they really are running like a VPN (for instance the user would have the IP of 10.1.2.24 or something like that) and would run through a proxy client in order to use msn and crap like that. They offer public IP addresses (static ones that can be accessed for websites and ftp's)
5. Well, if you require more than one IP address, they will charge like $9 extra, but (get this) they encourage people to buy routers and split up the bandwidth if needed.
