Aside from the mountain of rave reviews about the book, the movie's getting some pretty good reviews as well. In an attempt to avoid being that guy that just sees the movies instead of reading the book, I snagged it at Target today for $15.

I'm not too far in right now. Few pages away from chapter 3. Only had an hour or so to read it before coming in to work.

Anybody else reading through it before seeing the movie Friday?

Wanted to, but haven't had time. I'll probably read the book afterwards.

Is the book a graphic novel? 😕

It's a graphic novel.

I've been very busy, so I'm still only half way through the graphic novel. It is much longer than I anticipated, but it's quite a fun read.

😎 , I likes pictures! 😀

I read it a few months ago. I liked it quite a bit in general, though I found the pirate comic within the comic very pretentious.

Nope. But then again, I probably wont watch the movie until it's out on DVD (read: torrents)

Actually that's being too generous.. I'm not really aware of what Watchmen is, but I assume it's The Next Big Thing? in the category of blockbuster movies.. I'm not really into blockbuster movies, but I can appreciate one and not shit all over it for not being some kind of cinematic masterpiece. It's likely that I wont see watchmen until 2-5 years from now.

It's hailed as the best graphic novel of all time. It's on Time Magazine's 100 best novels list.

having read Watchmen way back, I just can't see going into movie not having read it and enjoy the movie. alot of stuff going on, will be difficult for first timers to process everything.

Is that an achievement for graphic novels? Are graphic novels often/ever on best lists for novels in general?

Link

It is the only graphic novel to make their 100 Top Novel list.

Being the best of anything is probably a notable achievment.
