not gonna wait cuz i don't think they could make the editions any more special really considernig how crammed the extended editions are. ttt normal edition blows and should be skipped obviously.

was amazing how fast it flew off the shelves. i got to frys around 3pm and it was sold out at basically all the locations from what the sales guy said.. and in the morning too:p

at target everyone in my line had a copy, from young kids to old peeps:Q:) it was 1 dollar more then frys.. 24.99, good enough for me:)

I want to see it before #3 comes out!!!!! She just doesn't understand that I "NEED" to watch it! Does it have a free ticket inside? If it does, maybe I can get her to let me open it and then I will have to "test" it out!

I didn't see a free ticket in my copy...then again, I wasn't really looking for one. :)

no ticket inside. but i like how they use disc retention that easily releases. hate those that rely only on friction to hold disc and pushing thingie doesn't do squat. warping discs to pop em out.

its amazing how fast frys sold out in the morning. and at target everyone in line had one, young to old, and in the evening:p either its a sales explosion or places understocked big time.

Yeah. I went to Target after work at around 9PM and it was sold out in the stands. I grabbed a guy and he was able to go to the back and find one for me. After I did that, about 3 other people mobbed him and asked him to do the same. 2 normal looking guys and a woman. Go figure.

still didnt properly explain about how the elvish archers showed up at helms deep. That wasnt enough to knock it off an A+ rating.
SUre they do (as well in the theatrical version). Galadriel and Elrond's little "telepathic conversation"...Galadriel basically says we cannot "let them stand alone" to Elrond...so they send out some Elves.

A very unbiased review here folks
I may be biased but from a technical standpoint you can't argue.

-New cut of the movie with 45min extra
-Dolby 5.1EX AND DTS 6.1ES
-FOUR commentary tracks
-Gorgeous packaging and menus
-7 hours of GOOD documentaries, not fluff or any promotional bullshit
-4 DISCS for the price of an average DVD release

Hard to argue it.

Delivery estimate is 26th-29th... DAMN YOU AMAZON!!!!

At the time I was ordering it I knew I should've bought something else with that freaking gift certificate and just walked my butt to BB or CC and bought the Two Towers when it came out. Ohhh well!

Don't know if this is normal for Amazon but I expected my Two Towers next week and out of nowhere I got it this afternoon. It was funny because it was like a gift even though I paid for it and was suppose to receive it earlier than today anyhow.

Saw the movie and the extended version is freaking awesome! Everything feels so much more complete. Very, very, very good stuff. Can't wait till ROTK!

Wow !!

I thought the theatrical release was great but the Extended edition is a masterpiece !!

The extended & new scenes really turned the movie around for me. While I liked TTT in the theaters, I thought it leaned too far towards being an action movie. The new dialogue and character development made it feel more Tolkein-y.

I watched two of the commentaries so far. The director/writer one was great, PJ is hilarious. I did like the detailed explanations they gave for the changes in the plot. I didn't care for the fact that they need every character to have an "arc". Maybe that's what's expected in movies but some characters, like Faramir, didn't need that kind of treatment.

I do wish they had left in the Frodo ring-transformation scene. The makeup looked great. The guy who played Grima is a complete freak!

The commentary with the actors was pretty lame for the most part, it consisted of the cast telling each other how great they each were. Sean Astin was particularly annoying when he persisted in talking about treatises and underlying surreal metaphors. I felt like I was listening to Vogon poetry. I swear my large intestine tried to throttle me.

I had to exchange the one I originally bought for another copy at BB yesterday...still haven't had time to watch it. Gonna try tonight. It was weird every disc in the set played except for the movie part 2. Tried 5 different DVD players too.
