Hi, I never really listened to AFI. Don't know why really because Sorrow was a great album. I heard good things about their new cd DecemberUnderground, so I picked it up. I was really impressed by how good it is. There are a lot of quality tracks on there.

I can't get Love in December out of my head. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard. I think this is going to replace my song on myspace. Speaking of that, is there any way to get the songs to play faster. When I have a Greenday or big name song on there, it loads in seconds. When I upload it myself though, it takes about a minute.

Regardless though, very impressive album. I recommend it, as if my opinion has a lot of weight in your decision.

I'll wind up borrowing it from one of my friends. I don't listen to them often, but they're decent every couple of months or so.

"A Fire Inside" Don't tell me you never heard of AFI. They're near the popularity level of Blink 182, but they seem to have a really hardcore fanbase.

A lot of people have heard of them in passing, but might not remember them. They really don't fit the tastes of the general demographic here on ATOT.

They aren't as popular as Blink 182.

I remember going to see them back in '99 with my ex at a little club in Santa Cruz with about 500 people. Now they're playing the VMAs or whatnot. Wierd. How come my life hasn't progressed as far in that time? :(

You don't have a bunch of piercings and tattoos. Go get some.

That's true. Back when I first saw them, the band looked pretty normal. Died hair and some tattoos, but not the crazy white makeup and tons of peicings and wierd outfits they have now.

Are you sure about that.

I know this isn't a hard and fast representation, but they looks pretty damn close in popularity to me.

Saw them with Vandals and NOFX back in the day..probably about 96 or so. That was the last time I saw them. Then they went all gothy with Hallow's Eve or whatever. It was funny because right after that the first FAQ on their site was:

Q: "How come Davey looks like a goth now?"

A: Davey has always looked like a goth.

Old listeners know that they completely transfomed.

They come nothing close to being as popular as Blink 182 was back in their day.

That's because Blink 182's glory years are over.

Weird, I was actually listening to "Brownie Bottom Sunday" as I saw this post. That song came out in like 1996 or something. Granted 10 years is kind of a long time, but it seems like their sound has changed a lot. Does that make them sell outs? I don't know, but with the exception of a few songs, I think their new stuff kind of sucks.

It's a lot better than some of their previous stuff. I'm glad the singer stopped screaming so much. He's got a distinctive voice and it seems like he's finally putting it to good use. It also seems like they've upped the production values, which can be good and bad, depending on whether you're a long-time fan or newly converted, as I am. There are some bonus tracks a friend of mine found, Fallen Like the Sky, On The Arrow, and Jack the Ripper. Check those out if you can find them.

The more I listen to this CD the more I like it. I'm a fan of their old stuff, but AFI really won me over with Sing the Sorrow. Man what an incredible CD. All their "Hard core" fans who stopped liking AFI after sing the sorrow and called them sellouts are idiots.

AFI seems to be the master of intro songs. Sing the Sorrow's intro song is incredible, and so is the intro song on the new album. I really like the 80's rock sound and experimental new-wave stuff they have going on in a lot of the songs on this album.

I think I found the defining/theme CD of Summer 2006.

"The Interview" is one of the best songs AFI has put out. Soft, Dark, very melodic, I love it. The rest of the CD is awesome as well, although quite a change of pace from Sing the Sorrows, although lets be honest, can we really compare any 2 AFI CD's? Very Proud of Ya to this is a long way, and the stops in between have been great.

they peaked with "the art of drowning" IMO

Jade Song, Totalimmortal, The Days of the Phoenix, God Called in Sick Today - all great, iconic songs of the late '90s (okay, it came out in 2000 - whatever)
