Just placed my pre-order in! It didn't say anything about water proofing, so I'm guessing it's not water proof at all...

If I didn't have a Garmin (and a Pebble) I would probably be ordering one of these as well. It really looks awesome.

Yeah, just waiting for reviews.

Honestly, I really like what Microsoft is doing. They've made it platform agnostic, they're listening to user feedback, and it's one heck of a cool product. I've got a Jawbone Up24 right now & will probably migrate to a Band 2 if the reviews are favorable (unlike the Up3...).

Exactly this for me as well! Really like what they are doing lately and that whole presentation just got me excited. However, trying to reign it in until reviews come out after the first one.

I almost got a band 1, because I like the fact it has a built in GPS sensor, heart rate sensor (probably a calorie counter), the only thing I wish it was, was water proof so I can take it swimming! I don't golf too much, but once in a while so that's a good feat...

Looks sick, love that it has Bluetooth, Googling this I'm not seeing anything about music, so I'm guessing it can only playback music on a phone? If I could use this to run without having to have my phone it would be just about perfection. Still looks like a killer device and if the HRM's good I'll almost for sure get one.

I'm sure the HRM is not as good as the one with a band around your chest, but hopefully it's close to it..

No, the first gen band doesn't work that way and I'd venture the 2nd gen doesn't either. The bluetooth is for notifications and syncing with your phone. You can use the band as a "controller" for your phone media applications but it can't work as a standalone media playback device like the Android watches or Apple watch can.

But it makes up for it in battery life, built in GPS, and excellent sleep tracking. I mostly love my band. There's a few interface niggles that annoy me (mostly revolving touch screen response with sweaty fingers) but overall it's an incredibly functional little device that is at an interesting price point over it's competitors.

The 2nd generation looks to address most complaints of design and durability. Not sure how much really changed under the hood.
