As long as it's not an electric trimmer, I don't give a hoot if it's a 2 stroke, or 4 stroke. I've got a 2 stroke trimmer myself, and that thing mows through the thick brush and weeds like butter. The electric trimmer often bogged right down, and considering the 1/3 acre backyard I have, managing 4 extension cords isn't fun either, nor will a battery trimmer work due to similar factors.

Motorized trimmers are a thing of the past these days. Black and decker (I know, I know used to hate them myself) has lithium ion battery trimmers, lawnmowers, chainsaws, tillers, etc that are just plain great. I got the 36v trimmer and blower/vac that are terrific.
But don't take my word for it, check them out.

You must have one of those silly suburban lawns that's about 2 square yards.

I got a battery powered trimmer for my small lawn...and it sucks bigtime. Once the battery reaches maybe half percentage, the power goes down enough that it takes twice as long to finish trimming.

Stihl anyone...? Had mine (4 stroke) for about 5 years and has never failed to start by 2nd pull and is strong + light for me anyhow... Mine also has like 100+ attachments you can buy besides just being a trimmer... Well worth the money period...

Is this it?

My dad has one of those...
~175cc 5hp ~50lbs with a shoulder strap...it's quite insane.
Has a bunch of options, including metal blades up to ~12".

Kinda like this, but with a lawnmower engine on the back:

You can even cut down trees with it.

Various people have mentioned problems with hard starting. This may or may not apply to you in your state, but I had the same issues for years after buying a house and acquiring a few powered implements. I actually replaced one mower just because it became a hard starter and ran rough, and taking it in for repair would have cost 2/3 the purchase price.

The next mower was a self-propelled and a little more expensive, so when it, and my weed trimmer, and my blower, and my snowblower all kept intermittenly having the same issues I struck up a relationship with our local small engine shop. The guy there told me that in New Jersey the 15% ethanol mix is hell on small engines. Apparently ethanol attracts moisture, or something, but it's hell on motors. He sold me some pretreatment and since beginning to mix it in each tank the issues were resolved. Fwiw.

Yes, Ethanol is hell on engines. It collects water and causes gas to go "bad", damages seals, and increases wear on engines.

Gas "stabilizers" help with these issues.

I use startron. performance is noticeably better for my mower, weed whacker, snowblower, and very much for the chainsaw.
