Yes. Only way I know is french toast with ham/turkey and cheese. Some people add syrup on top of that too (sounds disgusting, but it's actually pretty good! One of those things you'd have to try to believe.)

it's the house specialty at the Blue Bayou restaurant at Disneyland. I'm eating there next Sunday (early valentine's dinner).

tastes so good... so bad for you.
Yes sir, the only place I'll even eat a Monte Cristo sandwich! Heck, I only think I've ordered one other thing at Blue Bayou in my life... just dip it in jelly, so good!

The Monte Cristo
This sandwich is stacked with ham, turkey, and Swiss and American cheeses on wheat bread, then battered and fried ?til golden. Dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied by red raspberry preserves for dipping.

The trick with the Bennigans one is to get a Guinness with it. More than any other food I've encounted, Bennigan's Monte Cristo really, REALLY needs a nice dark beer with it.

The combination is quite divine, but it doesn't do so well without the Guinness. In fact, it's really kinda crap without it.

FWIW, Bennigan's Monte Cristo:
* 2 layer sandwich
* first layer is chedder and ham
* second is swiss and turkey (IIRC., might've been Provelone and turkey)
* deep fry the sucker
* sprinkle with a little powdered sugar
* slice and serve

If so, what was on it and how was it prepared? I've heard so many different ways to prepare it, I was wondering which is best.
Ham and cheese sandwich...battered and deep-fried to perfection :)
