Anybody ever had to do a USPS insurance claim?

I sold a laptop on eBay and the USPS crushed it. 4" of bubble wrap all the way around and the buyer said the LCD is cracked. It was insured for full sale price.

Who does the insurance claim, me or him? The USPS requires seeing the damaged article, so it has to be him, right? If I have him send it back they could just say it was damaged on the return trip without insurance and screw me over.

Anybody done it before sucessfully?

Hmm, interesting. USPS lost a laptop I shipped and I ended up having to do my claim. Laptop was shipped in Jan, claim couldn't be filed until April and I am currently waiting on the final paperwork to be processed. I'll stick with Fedex from now on.

yeah, good lucking getting money from them (USPS).

You have to wait for them to do an investigation, which takes like 6 months minimum.

I too will stick w/ fedex.
