I am looking to buy some spray foam (like Great Stuff from DOW) in BULK. No much more then 10lb, even a Alt. size will not do, I need a lot more. I found some that sold it in larger containers but it cost more to buy it that way then the smaller cans.

The cheapest I have found so far is 16oz size at HD for $5 each (thats after 10% off coupon). Walmart came in 2nd at $4 for 12oz.

Spray foam, Closed cell, has a higher R-Factor then fiberglass. So I need some for pipes and filling in cement blocks in the basement.

Thanks

Don;t care, only the dollar amount after tax/shipping. Don;t even care about the name as long as it is closed cell.

HD at the best is 0.32 a OZ or $5 a pound (16oz)

Whew. If you'd said you were going to use it in a car, I was going hunt you down and beat you bloody with an old shock absorber.

I thought about mythbusters doing the shaving cream in a car and how that was a flop. This would be much better... as long as you REALLY!!!! do not like the person.

Sure is easier to go with pipe insulation, though. Maybe go with the standard kind and then another jacket that fits on top?

No, I mean using it between body panels... I've discovered that my Beetle has this and the stuff is a PITA to clear out.

I'm doing that as well. But I want a higher R-Factor for the walls that the pipes are in. So they pipes will get the fiberglass pipe wrap and they the wall and wraped pipe will get foam. Also will use to full up the blocks in the basement.

I've seen them but it cost more to buy in bulk like that then to buy small cans.

Call around to rental places, contractors use a backpack-mounted unit that does the same thing. That's more in line with what you want.

Call some local insulation guys, see if they can give you a line on some.

Our insulation guys come out with a can of foam stuff about the size of a gas grill propane bottle, with a nozzle and hose attached. Sounds like about what you are looking for.

I found some but they come out almost 50% or more in cost per oz. I don;t know why it is cheaper in a small can with a tip and all. Yet all the large cans, even the Pro Great Stuff, does not come with a tip cost more. I thought maybe the pro or larger ones had a better R factor or something else. But dow even says on their site the only difference is that the pro has a gun tip you have to buy and it comes in a larger can.

Dude, there's a difference between filling cracks and building a wall with the stuff.

Yea but its the SAME stuff. Even Dow admits it. So I rather just have 1 can and just use it up and save some money. But right now oz to oz the 16oz can is winnign for some reason. Its liek Dow and other companies are charging more if you buy bulk, not less?

Its like if costco charged more for milk yet you still had to buy 5 gallons over 1 gallon from the store that is cheaper to boot.

Well I found 480oz of Great Stuff (20oz can X 24) for $95 shipped. Don;t think I can beat that but will keep looking. :)

You're missing the point- if you need THAT much of the stuff, I don't thing you're fixing it the right way :)

I would agree if there was a difference between the Pro/large containers and the small cans. But DOW has said they are the same. I rather have just 1 tank and use that then keep opening small cans.
But dollar to dollar the cans seem to be winning.
