My website, hosted free by 1&1, has been down 2-4 hours at a time, at least once a day lately.

I am getting really ticked off because I have 300+ members and it is pissing everyone off.

My website is www.ohionissans.com btw

yeah yeah yeah, you were all right.

Luckily, Minendo is the coolest, and is hooking me up on some good hosting :D

Just because I dislike 1and1 I will give anyone who wishes to switch from them 500MB / 5GB hosting for free for one year. :) This will be on one of my cPanel dedicated servers.

If you are interested please PM me :)

no problems with 1&1 for me. if you have 300 users, you shouldnt be using a free hosting site anyway! :p

I haven't noticed mine down, but it's not like I'm constantly monitoring it.

I certainly wouldn't rely on free hosting for more than the tiniest of ventures.

Yes and I don't really have any solid reasons as to why they suck. They just do.

1and1 just sucks period.

I would take DeviousTrap up on his generous offer for free hosting or see my sig :)

I got a 1and1 acct and use it to back my othersites up to. THe control panel is way to dodgy to do anything worthwhile in. Can't say anything about uptime either as I normally back stuff up once a month:p

I guess I shouldn't complain...it was free and apparently I was greedy.

Since I need a more reliable host does anyone have a recommendation? Yes, I'm willing to pay. Here's the kicker: I'm only going to use it to post my resume. I don't need a whole gob of features. I'll pay but not much.

thanks.

Is $40 or less/year too little to pay and expect a reliable web host? I will only be posting my resume and even though I'd love tons of hits I'm sure I won't get too many.

when my site when down a week or two ago, i emailed their tech support and got this email in return:

Thank you very much for your mail dated May 15, 2004

We had a major problem with the filesystem of the machine your website
is hosted on. We are presently working on getting all the data restored
for you. We sincerely apologize for the major inconvenience.

when the site came back up, the latest stuff i had uploaded (only 1 file, thank god) was gone. but it hasn't had any problems since it came back up.

For that I can host you for free. And since I also do payed hosting I can guarantee it will be just as reliable. Just send me a PM or contact me on AIM/MSN/ICQ.
