I'm right handed. I usually have the knife in my right hand to cut the food with - I don't trust that naughty left hand with a sharp object.

I have two hands. My right hand is dominant but the left one still does what I tell it too.
I hold the fork in my left hand, knife in the right. I then move the left hand with the fork in it towards my mouth and put the food into my mouth.

Pretty much.

I bet you're a backforker as well, then. Don't be backforker!!!!!!

There's a reason why we in America broke from Europe, they way they eat just isn't right and doesn't make sense. Weapon is always in the right hand, if right handed.

unfortunately most tables don't have a spork placed.

Knife or fork is hardly a weapon compared to one.

I alternate back and forth as I feel fit.

But then I'm ambidextrous...

Yeah, if I stop to think about it when I'm eating I found that knife/fork/spoon whatever swap places multiple times.

It doesn't matter what hand you hold the utensils with as long as you're not cramming your gullet with food/drooling/letting food fly out of your mouth/eating the utensils themselves.

The knife takes a lot more dexterity than the fork IMO.

I don't usually switch the hand that the fork is in either.

As for the OP's mention of the watch, if you wear it on your right wrist you cannot adjust it while wearing it since that puts the crown on the wrong side of the watch face. The crown of a wristwatch is always at the 3 o'clock position and if worn on the right wrist it requires an incredibly awkward twisting of the left hand to either wind or adjust. Terribly inconvenient.

Yes , the watch was inconvenient before digital watches. I know they make scissors for lefties, but watches for mega-righties ??

Which would put the fork in your left hand and the knife in your right.

Look at where they are when you sit to eat.

Fork in the right hand (I'm right-handed), but when I need a knife, I simply switch the tools around.
Who cares.

And what's back-forking?

Putting the fork in your mouth backwards, tines down. Very bad etiquette.

I'm not sure if it's been said already, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the "proper" (i.e., polite/formal) way of eating in the US is with fork in left hand and knife in right, while in Europe (or at least the UK) it's the other way around. Something like that.

Personally, I go with the US layout.

I'm right handed. I always have the fork in the left hand (even when not using a knife) and knife goes in the right hand.
