If it's so weak, how come it was able to pull you down on your head when you were a baby?

gravity must be stronger than magnetism...

I tried to pickup the cookie off the floor with a magnet... but it failed!!!!!

:(

OP is right, wow, electromagnetic forces are much stronger than gravity.

haha. i did not think of this.

Gravity is indeed a weak force. The gravitational constant is a very small number (of order 10^-11 if mass is being measured in kilograms and distances are being measured in meters).

I do it every year in front of my physics class. Then I chant "Gravity... Turn on!" and "Go earth go!" A little rub on my head & the electrostatic force between the ceiling and the balloon is greater than all of the gravity that the pathetic little earth is capable of mustering.

OP - when you look in the mirror what do you see? I mean after you wipe away all the zip splatter, that is...

I would love to know how your self-image differs from what everyone else here thinks you look like. I am thinking this

You're weak, but you don't see us laughing about it.

If gravity is so weak, (and by comparison to other forces, it may be weaker) why don't we see more elephants jumping over the Empire State Building?

Actually... I'm constantly amazed at how strong gravity is....

I'm amazed at the strength of a small pony. Gravity is stronger than a small pony.

Anyone with high school physics under their belt knows this. This is not worthy of a thread. You're annoying.

i have always thought teaching a physics high school class could be fun. you sound like one of the fun teachers. My physics teachers/profs have always been great.

Of course you don't mention the buoyancy, the archimedes forces, and neglect all air currents right? :)

engineering and sciences are just a set of lies that increase in complexity. :p like gravity.. middle school: 9.8m/s^2, high school: universal gravitational constant, college: yet another particle nobody has discovered yet

Try this on a neutrino star and see how well it works.

Herd mentality.

Arcadio posts something that pisses off 1-2 regular members and the rest follow along like sheep. At this point he could post the most brilliant thread ever and he will still be getting flamed, just because the majority of the posters here just follow along with what they think the popular opinion sees as "cool", which right now is making fun of Arcadio.

I see the same thing in his other topics. Perfectly valid topics ruined by a bunch of idiots trying to flame Arcadio, because it's the cool thing to do.

If you don't like the topic, just don't post in it... it is a pretty simple concept.
