It was tough when you were granted the ability to look up and down, but we did it with pgup and pgdwn in Duke3D. then when Quake hit, we couldnt do it anymore and had to switch to a mouse and keyboard... first mouse + arrows, then finally to mouse + WASD.

weird.. i could have written this exactly except i'm 29..

I did that in Tribes, GTA, COD, MOH, RTCW, etc. etc. etc. But in San Andreas, the much more logical "target enemy" (I think) is supposed to be there. Since it isn't, I have to do the "shocker" on my keyboard to compensate (holding CAPS-LOCK with my pinkie and pounding the F key with my pointer finger and trying not to relinquish my death grip on my mouse with my other hand.

Anyway, I find more and more that games are mapping all of the keys with a lot of forethought and logic, and when I change that mapping it tends to disrupt the rest of that logic.

So, you're finally going to learn SteveKeys, huh? :p

Trying! It's hard. In a moment of action/panic I revert to trying to push the right mouse button through the desk and watch in horror as I aim/unaim/aim/unaim/aim/unaim but otherwise just stand in place getting killed.

Practice using the defaults on Counter-Strike, that will help break you of the habit.

I've reverted back to RMB = Forward. I assigned aiming to the W key. I was okay using W for forward as long as nothing was going on, but as soon as the Ballas started ganging up on me I was Wasted. I just couldn't overcome 10+ years of FPS training.

Obviously, I could eventually learn, but I don't think I'll bother. From now on, RMB = Forward and W = whatever the RMB was by default. Come to think of it, I did this exact swap in Tribes (W became jet pack).

My bro uses Left Click to go forward and Right Click to go backwards. I'm more of a WASD style gamer with YGNJ for my movement. ;)

Why would you use arrow keys? There are more keys together in the middle of the keyboard that are closer together.
