I have heard it said multiple times. In fact my brother says it. I can understand frustration with him. I personally consider him a corporate shill. What has he done or will do that is worse than what has been promised by the potential Republican candidates. I would love to vote Republican but honestly considering almost any of them scares the crap out of me.

Hopefully one day you will realize they are all the same. Republican Democrat is just an illusion. In the end we are all slaves to the same people/entities.

vote third party

My personal issue with this is that it's basically the same as doing nothing, only more pussified because it's being used to rationalize that you're doing something. In the end I'd rather vote for the lesser of two evils, and at least know that I'm doing something to keep things afloat.

One actually got through some form of healthcare reform, removed DADT, has a sane foreign policy.. the other wants to remove net neutrality, redefine rape, cut taxes only on the rich..

Yep, completely the same!

These people are crazy. I would love Obama to get shown the door next year but not if, for example, Cain was his replacement. Fvvvvvvck no.

Imagining Cain, Bachmann, or Perry running the country is an exercise in horror that would not end well for the American middle class.

3rd party is a wasted vote.

Become a parliamentary democracy instead?

All you'd have to do would be get rid of the pres and make the leader of one of the senate or congress the leader of the country. I don't really understand what makes the congress and senate different though...

I rather vote for a party I believe in, rather than waste it on the one I don't. By voting third party, you increase their popularity. People need to vote for them to continue their existence. If over the years, their popularity will rise from <1% to ~5%, I will feel like my votes mattered, even though they didn't reach popular vote. The two party system is huge drag on democracy and promotes corruption. I rather not vote at all than vote for one of the two parties.

The answer isn't vote for a third party, which just denies your vote to the 'lesser of two evils'.

Instead, vote for that lesser of two evils and push for two things:

- ranked ballot voting in your state, so that you AREN'T throwing away your vote to 'vote for the third party you really want'

- a constitutional amendment to remove corporate personhood

- support better candidates in the primaries of whichever of the two main parties you prefer

We need to get the money out of politics, defeating the anarcho-conservatives who strongly support voter suppression and corporate domination of politics.

(Note: this is the first in an indefinite series of making up things about 'anarcho-conservatives', because Anarchist continues to lie about progressives despite warnings).

The American Sheeple have little understanding of our problem.

As long as we have an elective system that elects the worse politicians money can buy, we will have the government we have.

As it is, on the national stage, no politician can self fund themselves, and will always get beaten by the politician who sold their soul to corporate lobbyists.

Maybe we could advocate electing the independently wealthy, like Romney, Huntsman, and Bloomburg, but we have to be crazy to think the wealthy will side with the interests of the working man. And Scotus is not helping when they say money is free speech. It makes election reform impossible.

Obama is going to win. And I can tell you... Obama will with the help of republican voters. What republicans are just now realizing is if they vote Romney, they will be stuck for possibly 8 full years with someone they absolutely cannot stand.
Like with playing a game of cards, republicans gave it their best shot and will decide to fold, re-elect Obama, avoid Romney, and turn their focus to 2016.
That is the way this will play out.
Better Obama for 4 more years than get stuck with Romney for 8. And thus a better chance to win the game in 2016 with a Christy or even a Jeb Bush.
Republicans will realize they have lost this hand, that’s over, and realize keeping Obama in for 4 more years is the best strategy...

No you don't get what I'm saying. 3rd parties are the same as R and D by the same inane criteria people use to claim D's and R's are the same (which they most certainly are not if you're the least bit informed about reality). D's, R's, 3rd parties, etc. all, in reality, have very different platforms, to varying degrees depending on which side of the political spectrum they fall on. The whole nonsense about the 2-party system being "the same" is perpetuated by those with little ability and/or willingness to see the various nuances in both parties. Dems have very different approaches to social programs than Republicans do. Very different approaches on taxes. Very different approaches on social issues. In many cases (I'd argue most) they differ substantially when you take the sum of both chambers, the executive and the judicial. They're just different. They're closer on foreign policy, spending (certainly in recent history, that is, less so over the last 10 months), and some parts of financial regulation (up until 2008).

But in reality, 3rd parties are just as much of the same bullshit as D's and R's if you're judging them by what they get done. Fact is 3rd parties haven't gotten shit done, and to claim they would if they were elected is logically no different than a hardcore D or R claiming they just need to get elected to make a difference.

It's all Obama's fault! Everything!

It wouldn't matter who was in the White House. Business responds to demand, not political posturing, and no amount of posturing will change that. They're making record profits on reduced output, holding it as cash, and will continue to do so until they perceive greater demand.

That won't happen with the Cut, cut, cut! policy of Repubs, which will actually reduce demand further by forcing layoffs of govt employees and suppliers of goods & services to govt entities.

Econ 101. Just because right wing talking heads play up the confidence fairy doesn't mean it's any more real than bigfoot...

Business isn't suffering in this downturn, but do carry on as if you had the slightest idea of what you're talking about-

When I look at who shows up to these republican debates I have to wonder if the powerful republican deciders have given up hope and know things will be so bad for the next 5-6 years that they prefer to let us continue with the current administration for the time being. After all, as long as we can afford ink to print more money what possible harm can that do.

it's the obama economy. His finger prints are all over it. Re-elect him. Make him smell the stench of his pitiful decisions and reckless policies.
