..............and was able to use it, like in Hong Kong or Japan? I'll be leaving in 6 weeks (going to Japan) and I intend to buy a unit. I just want to find out first if anybody has tried this B4 and was able to use it here in the US.

Normally you would need a tri-band phone if you intended to come to Hong Kong, since we use GSM 900/1800. However, it's not going to be very useful in Japan, as they use a proprietary 3G implementation. They do offer cell phone rentals at the airport in Japan. Simply grab one on the way in and return it when you leave.
 
How much does it cost to rent a cell phone in Hong Kong?

I'm going there in January... but i have Verizon... so, my phone probably wont work there. Also, when you rent cell phones, do they charge you by the day for use or is it by how many minutes you use?
