Anybody already planning a trip to see the Total Eclipse of 2017?

Is it too early to make plans? I can't wait for the opportunity to see a total solar eclipse. Now to pray that the weather doesn't ruin the experience. Anyone else thinking of going to see it? Or maybe some of you guys live in the path of the total eclipse?

Apparently the path of totality passes within 30 miles of our family beach house during a week in which we often have a family reunion type of gathering at said beach house... so I may experience this eclipse entirely on accident.

I live near Nashville, so I'll be right in the path of the total eclipse. Gonna take the day off and watch it with the kids. 🙂

I'd have to travel more than 3000 miles so, no.

Last time I checked, San Diego -> Oregon would be around 1100 miles to get into the band for a 2200 mile round trip. A bit shorter than over 3,000 miles.

Lincoln City is in the middle of the band, and I figure a beach would be a nice place to experience a total eclipse. I'd like to go.

99.57 % view from driveway. ~18:40

99.98 % view from a remote abandoned Forest Service helipad. About a 40 mile drive the last 5 miles 4-wheel drive or ATV only.

Would be a great cap to a long weekend in the smokey mountains or Pisgah... I'm gonna have to plan something!
