I have been given some HP Itanium RX2660 servers that were being decommissioned. Just wondering if there is any value in these servers? I don't plan to use them but wondering if I could flip them or break them down and sell off the parts? Only thing I don't have for them is hard drives as they were kept by the customers for wiping and destruction. I see some of these on the internet for several thousand dollars each, but then I see discussions of OSes not being available for them anymore, including support for Linux being removed.

The only two uses that come to mind are as parts donors for servers still in production, but, that can't be many anymore.

Might be useful as boat anchors though...

I'm afraid it's e-waste. You can try ebay or equivalent, there might be someone out there running some sort of production an on Itanic machine that they don't have resources to upgrade from, and are looking for spare parts. Don't hold your breath.

(OTOH I've seen completed/sold ebay sales for other obsolete hardware at absolutely mind-blowing prices. I guess there's hope until there isn't.)
