Theat blog noted the Jasper should have an HDMI output too, which would be nice to use rather than the component output. Seems if the HDMI is part of the Jasper model design, anyone with one should be able to see that on the box!?
HDMI has been on the 360 since Zephyr - which is to say, rather a long time.

Didn't know that. The blog listed features and it seemed to show the HDMI as Jasper, and not the previous models. Perhaps I missread it. And that would explain why people were needing to get a voltage reader to see if the units they are getting has lower power consumption (evidence of Jasper vs Falcon power usage difference).

So picked up an arcade last night to replace my old 20gb premium. It is noticeably quieter and cooler. The dvd drive is still pretty loud, but is mostly drowned out when i play games anyways. I was playing castle crashers last night and the 360 was all but silent. Also, I used to get red pixels which i thought were normal, but after using this new 360, I get a MUCH better picture quality.

I read anandtechs review of the falcon and it seems that all the chips and such got a size reduction. There are also significant reductions of power usage. So all in all, I don't feel like jumping around to different stores (went to 4 last night until I just gave up looking for an 839X lot) or waiting to get the same system I already had. I also find the memory unit handy for bringing my gamer profile everywhere, so I don't really miss the chrome cd tray...

If I find a new lot (mine was manufactured in july 2008), I might return this one and get it just to have the latest and greatest. But I seem more than happy with the falcon.

Thanks for the update. I've been itching to get a 360 but keep telling myself to just wait a little while longer for Jasper.

I'm beginning to wonder if it will really be worth it.

Or how the heck we will know if and when it is really out! Seems MS is doing their best to keep it secret, probalby so they can sell off their current stock.

There's no reason to advertise it. It doesn't do anything differently than the current Falcon models, except probably run slightly cooler.
