I googled it but nothing official.

This games looks awsome and I'm ready to upgrade for it if I have to.

I am guessing it will be roughly the same as COD4 and 5 since they are all using the same engine with some minor improvements probably.

Check out the comments by user Rudedog in this forum thread for some interesting info I haven't seen elsewhere about COD:MW2: Nvnews forums
I linked what I thought was the most interesting page in the thread. Feel free to start at page 1.

I can tell you right now Jason West (IW's guy in charge) told me that mod tools, linux files and dedicated servers "would come later on"

Everyone is expecting COD:MW2 to launch primo, based on COD 4. This thread makes it sound like it will be more on par with OFP:DR's launch... Come on, no dedicated server at launch?

He is also a relative insider, and he has heard nothing about the PC specs for this game.

Edit: here's a link to info on rudedogs interview with Infinity Ward at a recent console-centric COD:MW2 press event: www.codaddicts.com

if you go to IW's forums, it's pretty clear the PC version was a massive afterthought. I don't think they even started porting it until 2 weeks ago. Hell, after the rumor came out the game was going to be delayed, they still haven't given an official response to it yet. But when it came out on some twitter page that the 360 version might be delayed, they nipped that in the bud inside of one day. I think they're releasing a beta as the final version, and charging us an extra $10 to boot.

This will suck if the PC version is ported from console. I've liked the COD series because it started out based on the PC and the first one had the Q3 Engine. Thanks for taking care of your old fans, COD. This and raping people on the price. No wonder pirating is so pervasive in the PC world. More and more PC games are ports from console and/or "unfinished" when they're first released and end up being shit. I can't remember the name but I remember buying a PC game not too long ago and the first day out the developer released a 500 MB patch to download and install.

Thats part of the plan. Pump out garbage, half finished console ports to the PC, blame the poor sales on piracy and announce further development for consoles. Consumers buy more consoles and perpetuate the cycle of regression and stagnation that's currently destroying electronic gaming.

I don't know the specifics, but my clan already has a server IP for their MW2 server, so I'm guessing it won't be much of an issue.

Huh? It doesn't matter if they have a server box up and running, if there is no dedicated server software then that box is just a paper weight. What a joke, IW is pushing this junk out to capitalize on the holiday break instead of waiting for the game to be complete. I'm not buying into this shit.

Unless I'm missing something, I seen nothing in the interviews that the PC version is going to be a piece of junk.

Given their track record, the PC versions have been excellent. But instead people are going off already on how it is going to be crap based on rumors at best.

No where has anyone said there wont be DS on release on the PC. There WILL BE matchmaking on the PC for coop, and coop wont support DS. But there's absolutely no reason to believe that there wont be DS on PC, especially as there has been a lot of talk about using DS on Xbox 360 too.

Also, and I want to be clear about this: THIS GAME IS NOT A PORT. STOP CALLING ANY CROSS PLATFORM GAME A PORT. Seriously, morons, stop it. Thanks.

edit: Also, this tweet today from THErealRUDEDOG: "#MW2 on the PC is not delayed and will be out on Nov 10th. Remember you heard it directly from 402 via the VG247. Nothing to worry about"

Sorry, should have been more clear. Blame stupid fucking twitter's arbitrary character limit. RudeDog runs the fpsadmin.com website and has some tight connections with IW. 402 (fourzerotwo) is Robert Bowling, the creative strategist with IW, and VG247 is a gaming blog.

edit: Here is the link:

Dralen: Has the PC version been delayed?
Rob Bowling: Officially, no.

Good news: Definitely no delay on PC.
Bad news: No dedicated server support.

Preorder cancelled.

Listen to this interview from about 1:40:00 with Robert Bowling, creative director at IW.

edit: You know what, this little 15 year old prick doesn't actually seem to know much. Preorder cancelled tentatively, until someone from IW clears up this once and for all.

So much fail. So, so much fail. I'm done with IW for good if this happens.

Edit - just read that the game will require Steam. They wouldn't have made a sale from me anyway in that case.

Community manager fourzerotwo has dropped a bombshell on the PC community as he confirmed there will be NO dedicated servers, no mods, no server lists and matchmaking only for the PC version on Modern Warfare 2, a first for the Call of Duty series, a series known for its large modding community and high number of dedicated servers.

Jump to 1 hour 41mins on the podcast to hear Robert Bowling confirm it.

Why are they even bothering to release this for the PC?

And why wait a couple of weeks before the release to announce this because they new there would be a backlash from the pc community hoping that most people would not find out and purchase it anyway without knowing this. I think MW2 is dead before it hits the shelves.
