Any word on PSU requirements for DX10 cards

I'm probobly getting a 430/450W PSU for my new rig and shall be upgrading to a DX10 card in the future

Does anyone know about the PSU requirements, hoping this would be enough for a 7900 GT alternative

well current top end cards require at least 500w and 20+amps for them, so figure higher.

They'll have different levels of DirectX10 cards just like they have different levels of DirectX9 now most likely. To stay safe I would say 400w (although 350w might cut it in a simple system) on up.

If you can afford to buy a card that needs a secondary GPU PSU, than you can probably afford the extra power supply too.😉

I was actually half-serious in my previous post. Get a reasonable PSU now that can support one mid to high-end DX10 GPU and if you end up really needing more power for SLI/Crossfire, grab one of those secondary PSUs. They are under $100. I think past performance has demonstrated that unless you buy both cards at once you will probably not buy a second one later as the next gen card will be faster, cooler, offer more features, etc. No reason to spend extra for "future-proofing" if you will not likely use the capability and the mitigating factor (I.E. secondary PSU) is not very expensive in relation to a second video card.
