My wife is a 3rd year teacher and is certified through Indiana for K-6. The school that she's at currently has a Dean position opening up in Wisconsin and we're curious as to how she could get over there.
She has talked to one of the ladies over there and stated that it was a case by case basis and she would have to apply before they would know more? She doesn't want to just apply b/c in her school system they have to talk to her boss and she's afraid that her boss would be 'bitter' if she ended up not being able to get the job.
Anyway...so, we know that she can get a temporary teaching certificate but then she'll also need a:
"Temporary one-year administrator license available for those who are currently enrolled in a state-approved program. This is an emergency license and must be requested by the employing school board. It can be renewed for one additional year (also at the request of the school board), and all coursework must be completed at the end of the renewal (so they have two years total to complete the program). They must hold or be eligible to hold a WI teaching license."
From your experience...does it sound like this job would be worth it? Would she be able to do what she needs to do? I know that she'll need to take another class to satisfy the WI requirements for her teaching license and then obviously some class for her Admin license.
I think it would be worth it due to how much it would advance her career and give her a real opportunity. We don't want to jeopardize what she has now either though.
Any help is appreciated!
