Any "Weekend Dads" here?

No offense to anyone, but most weekend dads didn't plan things out well enough before they had kids.

That's true, but ots of people get married when they really shouldn't have, and even more have kids that they didn't really want.

I think it would be interesting to see the results of a survey that compared the marital status of children whose parents concieved by chance to the marital status of children whose parents concieved after a lot of consideration and planning, who had actually intened to start a family.

I'd put money on the percentage of "still married" couples in the second group being significantly higher.

shrug, notfred is the typical high school/college student know-it-all whom we all were at one time.

While I don't wish for it to happen to you, there is definitely a chance it will no matter how much you "plan" things. I "planned" things too, but sh*t happens, and people change through no fault of your own. I'm not saying I've made the correct decision all the time, but it is very possible to do so and still end up like me. I've seen it happen.

Anyways, best of luck on your perfect life. I once said exactly the same things (only on BBS' not this new-fangled thing called the internet...

I've got a good friend who does that. Works Monday - Friday 10am to between 6 and 10pm then drives an hour and a half to pick up his kids, drives another hour and 45 minutes to get home, then brings them back on Sunday night. In my opinion he takes far better care of his kids than his ex does, but courts always give custody to the mother unless she is killing them or something.

i would too, but i don't think i'd put money on either, given a choice. i have a friend who had a great family... until her mom got breast cancer, and her dad got stressed out to the point where he was diagnosed as manic-depressive. lets just say things are not quite so great anymore.
