It baffles me how people still prefer and buy Colt AR15s when Colt has made it perfectly clear they want nothing to do with the civilian non-LE market. If I was going to spend a bunch of money on a AR15, I'd get a Les Baer.

Why spend so much money on a brand name AR when you can build a much better one yourself, for less money?

Also WFT? Supporting an industry makes someone a hero? That's a pretty low bar to set, even if it weren't the arms industry, who are pretty ***** evil themselves.
</end quote></div>

Ok, thats the first time I've ever heard the firarms industry being called evil. I'd love to hear why, but I'm betting that you wont be able to find a reason.

Well, many people would answer that with something along the lines of 'they make ***** killing machines for gods sake' but since you most likely do not subsribe to the idea that the perfect world is one without weapons, how about this:

Do you know what the biggest sale a UK company has ever made to anyone ever is? It is arms to Saudi Arabia. These sales are secured by illegal backhand payments to Saudi royalty and govornment officials, who use the money to fund their decadent lifestyles and keep their country tightly under their thumbs, with almost non-existant human rights for it's citizens.

That's pretty evil, and we're just little old England - I'm sure American weapons have been sold and used just as inappropriately.

Some crappy giant but functional novelty sword I bought on a whim at a trade show, along with a high powered flashlight (Jetbeam Mk II Cree) and my cell phone. I'll let the cops handle the bad guys, I just want to make sure I have something to defend/distract with and get away enough in time.

That is the most hilarious thing I have read all day. I feel sorry for anyone who subscribes to that idea. That is truly pathetic.

I've got a baseball bat within reach of my bed... it's enough to take out a zombie and won't draw more zeds to my location 😛

reminds me of that sex and the city episode where samantha reveals her "just in case" weapon of a giant butchers knife beside her bed😛
i have a hammer and 3.5" folding knife😛

best defence is the dog, not because of attack, but because they do guard the door, early alarm and all. even a small dog is a good early warning.

My chihuahua is 4.5 pounds of pure terror. She loves the family so much and she really does her part in keeping our house secure.

My nightstand drawer contains my Glock 17, loaded with 15 Speer Gold Dots (this is easier on the mag spring than a full load of 17 rounds), and an Inova XO flashlight. I also have a ginormous tomcat!

Vertical support from a yakima roofrack. It's about 3 feet long, hollow metal rod with a big metal clamp at the end, weighing about 6-7 pounds total with 3-4 of that coming from the clamp at the end (looks like a brick). The end is also very edgy - I figure one hit to the head will pretty much guarantee somebody intensive care, maybe worse. It's one of those things that you hold in your hand and just think "whoah... this would be brutal".

No firearms... six year old in the next room.

BTW - the firearms industry is not evil in any way, shape or form. It is the gun grabbers who are evil, and hate freedom.</end quote></div>
so whatever - have fun - just don't come anywhere near me or my family!

Or what? You'll shoot him? 😀

My guns are murderer's all by themselves. He will try and convince one of them to turn on me.

It's okay though, I always keep my eye on them in case they decide to get uppity. I keep hearing from gun grabbers that they are dangerous to have around, but so far none of them have tried to start any shit.

Well now, let's be fair. If you put 8-10 hollowpoint bullets into someone that has broken into your house and they're still standing, I think they've earned the right to be there. You at least owe them a drink.

Umm, No. They haven't earned anything except the upgrade to a more powerful weapon, or a second magazine for the handgun.

If that still fails, there should be weapons of opportunity throughout the house to use.

^ I think perhaps you took my post a little too seriously...

Katana. I'd give myself 50/50 vs a handgun at a few meters range in the dark, or much more if I see the intruder before he sees me, especially since I know the house and he does not.

50:50?

I'll keep an eye out for your name in the local papers, then. 🙂

Remington 870 in the closet. I actually hope just the sound of a pump shotgun in a silent house would be enough to scare most criminals away.

Move on to shotgun.

If eight 12ga rifled slugs don't take care of the problem I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
