Any way to underclock Intel GMA?

I'm having problems with my laptop where the GMA is overheating and for whatever reason the CPU stays underclocked and performance tanks. This happens even with the CPU idle if I leave the laptop on long enough.

From a cold start it works fine where I can actually see the CPU coming out of C1E state but after leaving it for a while the problems start happening. The CPU idles at around 50-55C initially but since the GPU heatsink is connected by a heatpipe to the CPU heatpipe which is then connected to the cooling fins and fans, it eventually gets to idle at around 65C.

So are there any programs that will let me underclock/undervolt the GMA? Would underclocking the FSB have an effect since the GPU is on the Northbridge? I've tried GMABooster but can't get it to work in Win7 64-bit or in WinXP 32-bit.

If it's 4500 then no, 3100 or earlier may be possible with GMABooster or Notebook hardware control, however it isn't likely that you'll be able to.

I don't think it would help though, try and reseat your heatsink with new thermal grease if possible, clean out any dust and make sure the vent isn't covered. If that fails, I would underclock the CPU first. Or use RMClock to undervolt it.

I've done the cleaning the vent and reseat and reapplied TIM but that didn't help. There's a thread at Dell and others have this same problem...and it looks like a design issue with Dell not really doing anything about it. I was just trying to see if changing the GMA frequency would help. RMClock can only go down to 1.06v unfortunately. Intel Speedstep by itself sometimes goes down to 0.95v so no point in using RMCLock. Thanks though.
