Any way to set MSN messenger to "appear offline" when you first connect? third party software welcome.. heh

like title says.... i hate how when i login i have to be set to "online" for a sec so everyone gets notified... i'd honestly rather have the option to login with out anyone knowing.. i've seen it before on groups, but never with an an answer...

anyone know anything??

What's the point? If you don't want to talk to people don't log on, or just leave it up all the time showing your status as away.

Why don't you just make a new name up and use it to check before you sign on with your real one?

But if you "appear offline" you can't initiate any converstations with contacts... I always found this the weak side of MSN. ICQ you could be invisible to selected individuals and such... unless I'm missing something here.
