Any way to run 3 DDR modules with DFI LANparty UD?

Hello, new to the forums and looking for answers. I've been on and off with the hardware loop for awhile, but im stumped.

I had 2x512mb corsair memory on a DFI Lanparty UD, need to make the jump to 2 gb so i ordered a single 1gb module (stupid probably) well, as you may know, the 4 dimm slots on the MB are two pairs of color coded slots, yellow and orange. I can run fine with 1gb chip in, or i can run fine with 2x512mb chips, but only if they are in the same color slot.

So my question, is there any way i can make it run via a setting in the bios, or a jumper to move so that i can run both the 2x512 chips and 1x1gb chip? Or do i need to re-order memory and either get 2x512, or 1 more gb chip. I dont care if dual channel is enabled or not, i thought you just needed pairs for dual channel, i didnt think it would work period without pairs, every other board i had had 3 dimms..didnt expect a problem

all i get are 3 long beeps with all three in at the same time

TIA
Andrew

your best bet here is to check the motherboard manuals, but I have seen some memory controllers get finicky with ram in non 2^x orientations aka 1, 2 or 4

My suggestion is probably to go ahead and grab another matching 1gb module and run 3 GB

How much are your headaches worth?

I have the same board and had 2x512gb and wanted to upgraded to 2gb as well a couple years back. Here's what I learned...

You won't be able to use mixed mb/gb (1x 1gb & 2x 512mb). All I tried to do was 4x512...and even that wouldn't work because that board is limited to a certain fsb (like most boards).

So I'll save you a headache and tell you to drop the 2x512 and add another 1gb (preferably same brand).

Sell the 2x512 or use them in another system.
