Any way to require doubleclicking on the quicklaunch bar?

Let me guess, you have users that double click the icons there and launch multiple windows, ect?
We set up some users that were bad about this, to where there was no quick launch bar

The entire point of the quick launch bar is for single clicking. I don't know of any way to change that.

Why not just use desktop icons?

I set my entire desktop up for single clicks - why do it twice when once is enough? :)

I don't think that Q/L can be changed. The purpose for it is as titled - quick launch.

Have your parents look into training courses at SeniorNet Training Center.

Heh. I've noticed most non-computer savvy people never really learn nor understand clicking schemes. They are rather just programmed in a pavlovian way to either double-click everything (start button, web links, icons, folders, etc), or nothing at all.

My father always double clicks the quick launch icons. Since it takes longer for the Windows to open (after all, he's requesting two instances of the program), he keeps on clicking, ultimately ending in his having 5+ windows of whichever program he was trying to use.

So I removed the QL icons :p

It's a matter of taste and practice, I suppose, but I like having to double click. That way I can select a given icon with a click, and then decide what to do with it. I've tried the single-click thing and it drove me nuts, so I changed back.

Replace their Windows desktop with a bitmap that is a PICTURE of a Windows desktop. Now they can click on the QuickLaunch icons as many times as they want. ;)

Haha, we used to do that as a prank at the office; people would literally go beserk

Another thing that some people don't understand:
If I say "click" I mean left click.
If I say "right click" I mean right click.

No matter how many times I say this, I'll be instructing my parents on something, and say "click here" and they say, "Right or left click?"
And the best is of course, "Right click on the desktop," responded to with, "With the right button?"

i know what you mean. no matter how many times i explain this to my parents, my mom still keeps on double-clicking the quick-launch icons. but she knows the difference between right and left click.

Years ago, I had a friend who was an ex-airline pilot. I couldn't BELIEVE how dense he seemed regarding the operation of Windows 98. I'd show him how to do something, and the next day he'd call me, saying he'd forgotten how to open a program. It was scary, considering that somebody like him would be flying my plane the next day.
