Okay I am working today the place is dead, a friend recieved a Micheal Bolton CD :) and was trying to play it in our workroom. It wont auto play and windows media player does not see the cd.

When opened in Explorer there is an auto run that when clicked on gives you these options

on top it says CD EXTRA/ Sony music Entertainment
Play Title
Play Music
Set up title
Remove title

Play music does nothing
Paly title will instruct me to set up title first which then tries to install something including quicktime.

This is pretty messed up, I just want to listen to Micahel Boltion damit :). Work computer so do not want to install software.

Is this the dreaded sony spyware? or will the the simple pen marker trick work?

This is the first CD that I have encountered that does not play on the pc (without installling software)

This is Ironic, I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to figure out how to place several of my Itunes bought music into 3 of my Ipods with one computer and different libraries (Wife ,daughter, me) did you know you cant simply add one track to an Ipod.

Finally came up with a solution strip DRM (tunebite)and use WINAMP with ipod support.

Advice aside from "Michael Bolton suxors" will be much appreciated. Its a Christmas Album.

I'll be honest with you, I love his music, I do, I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman".
:D

What you are experiencing is the newest way for Sony to be all up in your jock. IIRC the only way to get it to play on your computer is to rip the audio off the CD first.

Its a gift from one of the nurses, I am pretty sure he will not got to the trouble of having it replaced. I was hoping for a quick solution "Nerdy" solution.

So this wont be fixed by the Black marker hack?

Rip the audio to your HD.

OFFICE PC I am pretty sure it does not have CDEX or any ripping software installed.
