Well I have been using my compaq DeskPro for a couple of months now and I do not want purchase more ram because I whould have to buy sd and when I get my new comp I whould need ddr. So i was looking and my bios and unfortinitly my bios do not support over clocking so i was wondering if any one knows some subsitutes for a compaq deskpro and the mobo is a compaq.

Years ago I had a Compaq 4090?? w/KT133 chipset and amd processor. BIOS of course had no oc options. I found the clock generator (it would be the ic next to a little metallic cap w/ 14.3 on it) on the board and overclocked it using CPUFSB. You are limited to only increasing the fsb via the program. The multipliers and voltage required the bridge painting tricks. A PITA compared to todays ease of ocing, but thats the way it used to be all the time.

i have an old presario that suprisingly let me pull the p2 450 and put a p3 550 in it. but everything autodetects. there are a few jumpers but they dont change anything when i switched em.
