Well I was deleting some of my old avi files and suddenly I saw an option called 'Play to' after right clicking it, and clicking on that option showed me my Bravia TV (W6), I just selected it and the file was playing on TV, just like that! Well that got me more interested. I can only see that option Play to for a jpeg, mp4 and avi files, not for mkv. So I was wondering if there's a way to mirror the desktop's screen to my TV...
How the desktop found the TV anyway, is it because both the TV and the desktop is connected with same router or what?

Thanks.

If you can connect hdmi cable from desktop computer to the TV its very simple, just press windows key + P

Can only play those file types prolly cause are the only ones the bravia tv plays, Sony hates mkv. And yes the desktop detects the tv cause its on same router and net then TV.

If connect directly the TV to the computer via cable, the play its handled by the computer so can play on tv whatever format u play on desktop, and also see the desktop on the TV

another usefull windows shortcut keys:

If you have an Apple TV ($99) device connected to your TV, just purchase/install AirParrot on your Windows machine.

Thanks guys. Actually I have the pc connected to TV with HDMI cable already, but after seeing that option yesterday I thought maybe there's a way to connect it wirelessly. That won't happen I guess. But the Sony plays mkv formats normally from pen drive or portable hard disks, don't know why it's disabled under that Play to option!
Thanks for the Apple TV recommendation, but I don't buy anything from that brand anymore.
