Question Any way to make my PC stop changing my audio output when I plug my headset in to recharge it?

I'm using a wireless EPOS Sennheiser GSP 670 headset on Windows 11 (this is my first build with Win11 and I'm still trying to stop it from doing a lot of annoying things). When I'm playing a game, watching a movie, or listening to music and my headset needs to be recharged, plugging it in will automatically switch it over to my monitor's speakers for some reason and I'm forced to tab out of whatever I'm doing, go into the sound settings, and put it back to my headset. I never had this problem on Windows 7 with my old PC so I'm wondering if this is just a "feature" for Windows 11 that I'm unfamiliar with. I'd love it to stop swapping the audio devices but I haven't found any settings that let me do so.

By 'put it back' I assume you mean you set the correct output device as the default (in Control Panel > Sound)?

One simple workaround might be to get a USB charging-only cable to charge the headset? Or not use the computer to charge it (it will likely charge quicker if charged via a mains USB charger)?

Yes, I have it set as the default but when I plug it in, Windows says it recognized a new device and changes the device to my monitor speakers (although the sound doesn't switch to my monitor - it just stops altogether).

I'll look into getting a different cable. For a while I had the charger plugged into my old PC to my left mainly because the cord that came with my headset was so short and my new PC is really far to my right so it's a hassle plugging it in to begin with.

Are you using the usb cable that came with the headset?
I've had 2 devices not work with "regular" usb cables, only the one that they came with.

I am, but it's a bit weird when I first plugged it in, it was giving me an error code which told me the cable was incompatible. After I contacted EPOS about the issue (not the only issue I've had with this headset), they sent me a new cable that worked fine but it's been doing this ever since. It's mainly a mild inconvenience, especially if I'm playing a multiplayer game like Tarkov because I need to be able to hear, but if my headset dies in the middle of a raid, that's not ideal either and neither is minimizing the game to change the audio settings around. I was just hoping it was a setting somewhere within Windows.
