Any way to install a program without having ANY part installed on C:?

For example, what if I wanted to install Firebox on drive X: and did not want ANY part of the installation to hit my C: drive or the registry, would it be possible to do that?

non C: drive, yes.

Registry, no.

You can move your OS install (and therefore your registry) off of your C: drive I suppose.

It sounds like you have questions about your *solution*. What is the original *problem*?

It's not problem. For example, again with Firefox, say I install it on D:, the installer still puts the bookmarks directory in some obscure location on C: but what if I don't want that?

It's not obscure, it's in your profile. And it won't be on C: if your profile isn't on C:.

I know it is possible with firefox see here -> http://portablefirefox.mozdev.org/

Firefox is a special case because it was written on unix and designed to be portable.
