Any way to grab a youtube video for local storage?

I don't even know if this is legal, but is there some way to grab youtube videos and store them locally on your hard drive? I was thinking maybe FRAPS?

It took me 2 tries to find that

there are YT downloader plugins for pretty much every browser

Well, just found out that the file I need isn't actually on youtube. It's on a local news website. Hmm.
