Any way to get rid of rust?

My brother took my Leatherman supertool up to the mountains while skiing and he got water in the damn thing and now the hinges are all rusted up and its hard to open, I put some oil in it and it opens easier but it still doesnt open like it use to, is there any kind of chemical to remove rust or get rid of the rust stains?

I use steele wool. It would be hard to rub in the joints though. Oil and useage? Rust is the oxidation of the metal. THe bi product is rust. I cant seem to think of chemical that would attatch to the rust but leave the metal intact...

Better Living through Chemistry.... Or Naval Jelly isn't for toast.....

Gun Powder & glycerine are a lot better at taking rust off.

Acutally, if you use some graphite poweder, it usually will work the dust/dirt out and give your tool a nice lubing.

You try WD40? dunno if it'll work but i use the stuff for everything!

yes work the WD40 in the hinges real well. It should clean out the rust. Dont forget to re-oil after doing this.

This is what u want Never Dull

Been using it on my boats for MANY MANY years.

As a side note, My Great Grand Uncle actually owned the company (not sure if it is still in that part of the families name, obviously from my bank account balances, I am not close enough in relation to even get a free can anymore!!! However, my middle name is named after him (rather have the $$$$).

Good stuff tho and much safer then naval jelly.

Wonder if it is still manufactured by the George Bash Co.
