Any way to find out what codecs a movie file requires?

I'm looking for software for Windows that will check a movie file for its codec requirements.

I found a site once that showed how you could do it with a hex editor by looking at the headers. You might want to do some digging over at Videohelp.

Someone referred me to that program last time I rebuit my system. It works great. Load up the clip, it tells you if you have the codec and the name of it so you can go download it.
