I think I know of the program your talking about...Some peeps have said to never use it or it doesn't work well or something if it's the same thing..May still search it out and research a little bit.

Thanks for the tip I had forgot all about that program.

That's kind of a small niche. I would say that the current gaming system is XP (or the previous version of whatever MS comes up with in the future). It sounds like you'd be a good candidate for 64bit Vista. The game performance will get better with time. Maybe wait until your next system, and get lots of memory for it, and you'll be good to go for a long time.

Edit: for about $400 you could get a lower end Conroe system, reusing some of your existing components. Is that a viable option? The reason I suggest that is for the newer memory standard. Your current computer is pretty nice though :^/

Yeah I'm tempted to go that route. Really wanted to tough it out and wait for Penryn and cheaper DDR3 or Barcelona, whichever is best bang for buck. For just this one game giving me grief right now I think I'll just wait it out and do Medium textures or reinstall XP32 after my XP64 expires.

I'll assume that maybe drivers for Vista still kind of suck...they'll get better in time ~ just drop back to WinXp and in the future go Vista once things have stabilized

And your system is reallly beefy...I don't see how you are even "Toughing it out" at this stage considering your rig

Heh- I thought about those choice of words after rereading it. Spending too much time browsing the extremesystem forums....

I don't know why nobody mentioned this but there have been many reports of BF2 specifically wanting to choke on Vista in general. After loading up a few maps it sometimes gives an error that basically says it ran out of memory. This only happens to them in Vista. I think EA needs to work on the game for Vista.
