Any way to clear the dropdown URL menu in Internet Explorer?

Can you clear that list on the dropdown? My boss want's everything on a computer he got from a friend to be totally clean without formatting it.

You can clear it by going to Tools, Internet Options, Clear History. Also, be sure to click on "Delete Files" and "Delete Cookies."

There is a lot more on the computer that should be wiped if you have any sensitive information on there. You may want to use a utility like Ultra Wipe so that information cannot be restored.

If you are using 2000 or XP, you should also delete the user accounts and delete their respective directories in C:\Documents and Settings\
 
A nice little feature in Ad-Aware SE (includes the free version) is the ability to scan and clean out many of the MRU lists kept in the registry. I forget what Ad-Aware calls them (negligible perhaps?), but it a scan option. Finds a few other history lists in the registry too.
