It could be right depending on tips. You need to keep in mind that the taxes on tips come out of the hourly wage. You claim your tips nightly.

I rarley had a large hourly check as my tips were so great. I usually just figured my tips were my salary and the hourly paid my taxes.

It should show on that stub how much they claimed for tips.

This may have already been stated as I didn't read the whole thread.

Hey,

I actually do the books at a restaruant.

I see that happen to servers all the time. In essence, the Credit Card tips (which is the bulk of tips nowadays as over 70% of tickets are paid via CC) are taken out as cash by our servers here when they check out. Unfortunately, you WILL get taxed the full amount on those tips and that is deducted from your hourly paycheck.

What the fvck is your problem? I clearly stated I have no idea how wages and taxes work with waiters and waitresses and I've never even had a friend until my roommate who's worked in the service industry which happened to be his first time also. Apparently, it's ignorant to ever question anything that doesnt seem to make sense to you.
Read your comments below:

Now I've never worked as a waiter before so I don't know how it works...all i know is that the employer is not required to pay them mininium wage...but what I DO know is that they can't take that much out in taxes...

So when you stated matter of factly "what I DO know is...", what that really means is that you don't know sh-t.

ARE YOU REALLY THAT DENSE? Someone like me who works a normal job DOES NOT GET THAT MUCH taken out in taxes you prick...that was what I was inferring to. Your too busy trying to be a dick with your abrasive comments...so say whatever you want...this is the internet, so you can say whatever you want and get away with it I suppose.

If you were referring, not inferring, to a non-tipped employee's checks, you should have said something to the effect that "all I know is that I've never seen anyone get that much in taxes taken out". But you said something different, and your reference was to a tipped-employee's paycheck ("all i know is that the employer is not required to pay them mininium wage"). You matter of factly stated YOU KNEW 'they can't take that much out in taxes...' and you were simply wrong. They can and do take that much out in taxes, which means you didn't know as much as you thought you did.

You could have avoided all of this if you simply eliminated all of your conjecture and just asked the question instead of attempting to claim knowledge you didn't have.
