Any Vets in the house? My dog is having some problems

I have a 7 & 1/2 old bischon and this is the second time he has done this in the middle of the night.

he woke me up and I see him panting heavily, shaking his head with a puddle of drool on my bed.

it's almost as if he's telling me he can't hang on anymore...

but in the morning, he's fine.

does anyone know what may be causing the problem?

I work for a vet, occasionally. and i would suggest that you make him an apointment.

what time of the day do you feed him? is it late at night or in the morning? has there been any change to his diet? Is he still eating, drinking and going to the bathroom as normal?

he's still acting normal in the morning and I feed him once in the morning around 6am and once at night at 6pm. I just wonder if he may be getting old and it's time for him to go 🙁

Sounds like he's scared. Was it raining? Thundering? Otherwise, take him to the vet and try to compile a more complete list of signs. (Not symptoms unless your dog talks.)

7 1/2 years old doesnt seem to me as being that old thinking it is time to put it down. now 10-12 years old yes but god not 7.

And I would say it isnt that big a deal. Dogs do dream and I have seen all of my dogs go into a spazim like state while dreaming.

Do you walk him when he wakes you up? He might have an upset tummy.
And for some reason, your description is really freaky.. like killer dog movie material almost

Any swelling of his head/mouth? My old dog used to dine on Black widows and he would have a bad reaction when he got bit every so often.

Take him to the vet. He's still a kid at 7..

Some dogs just get hot and drool when they sleep.

Especially if they heat is still on in your house. Remember, dogs have coats that thicken in the winter and thin in the summer. His body may not have thinned his coat yet, and the extra heat might be making his nights really hot.

Call a the vet on Monday and ask them if they think it's any matter of concern.

There he was sick or there was a physical problem, there would likely be a change in their poo.

Have you considered upgrading to a cat?

Would that be similar to upgrading to Windows Me?

More like a command line version of *nix. It makes you think you're better off... but in the end, the OS just makes you do all the work. 😉

DOGS RULE.
