You may not know the name, but Vangelis did the music for films like Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner, and 1492: Conquest of Paradise.

For those who don't know, he also composed the score for the new film, Alexander.

There are sound clips and movies about the score's production located here.

Everytime I hear the Chariots of Fire theme, I feel like going running.

"You can't win if you don't run."

The Jon & Vangelis albums were well done. Soundtrack music isn't my cup of tea.

:music:
Home be the temple of your heart
Home be the body of your love
Just like Holy water to my lips
Yes I do know how I survive
(Yes I do know) know why Im alive
To love and be with you
Day by day by day by day
Say-Aye yaya oh
Be the sound of higher love today
Time, time again, it is said
We will hear, we will see
See it all-in his wisdom-hear
His truth will abound the land
This truth will abound the land
This State of independance shall be
This State of independance shall be
:music:

I have his greatest hits album (Odyssey, IIRC). Granted he's earned his place in modern cinema history but overall I find his style to be a little -- sorry to put it this way -- sissy.

Vangelis is ok, but Ennio Morricone rules all soundtracks.

Vangelis is like Yanni without the pompousness and big hair.

Edit: Which is to say, good.
