Any Value to a 802.11G router?

So I saw that $2 802.11b router on sale this week and when I move apartments I will no longer have the internet hooked up in the same room as my 360. But is there any value to using a 54mbps connection w/ comcast internet service?

Also, I assume any wireless bridge works w/ the 360, not just the official one, right?
