Any utilities to check up MB & CPU?

Hi, all,
is there any utilities to check up the motherboard and CPU?
I have problem with my AK72 & Athlon 950 system with 1G SDRAM (2x256 & 1x512). Maxtor 40G. ATI Radeon 32DDR. System halted after logging into Win2k randomly and Norton systemworks 2001 pro could not find anything wrong. Check disk did not find anything wrong with HDD.
I tried two different hard drives and found the HDDs are not at fault. Radeon card is fine. Memories works fine.
So, I am left with AK72 or Athlon not working properly. I don't have spare CPU or Slot-A MB. Thus, I am looking for any utilities that I can use to check what actually is wrong.
Thanks,

Ihncheol

try getting a cpu temp monitor like mbm (mbm.livewiredev.com) .. see what the cpu temperature is when it locks up.. if its too high (not sure what it should be for a slot a) then you may have cooling problems.. you could try leaving the case open and putting a house fan on it, or clocking it down as a temporary measure, but if its a cooling problem your best bet is to get some thermal stuff and maybe a better heatsink ..

The cace has been open both sides for the last two weeks. The cooling fan for the athlon is Termaltake golden orb.
I don't think it is the heating problem, but Thank you very much for the reply.

i just remembered that win2k has some very big athlon related problems. happened to me, it just locks up anywhere between 5 minutes and a few hours after booting .. for no apparent reason. try this .. i think thats the one anyhow.
