Hello everyone,my last pc upgrade was 4 years ago (except GPU + PSU which I bought 6 months ago). So now I'm interested if there would be any sense if I upgrade to something new,for e.g:
Z170 board
6600 or 6700k
ddr4 RAM

My PC is in my signature,I don't do editing or rendering, just gaming and full hd movie watching. I have 60Hz monitor and getting 60-100fps in games with no problem (sometimes just tweaking anti-aliasing settings for smooth fps)

I suspect there is no need in upgrading now, since I have 60Hz monitor, but I just have these inexplicable feeling to upgrade once in several years, but if there would be NO noticeable sense, than I'll just wait for some new techs to show up....

Thanks everyone in advance :)

P.S Maybe first upgrading to 4K monitor and afterwards upgrading other tech ? (including GPU)....

Well, it might help a tad bit if you listed what your current hardware is. ;)

When people are on mobile, like I am, signatures don't show up.

Sure :)

GPU - R9 390 Nitro
CPU - Intel 3570K
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
HDD - 3TB + 1TB / SSD - Crucial MX100 256GB
PSU - EVGA 750 G2
Case - be quiet! - Silent Base 800

With those components, and if they are still providing satisfactory performance for you (which it sounds like they are), I wouldn't upgrade.

There are quite a few people still gaming on older CPUs on here than what you have.

I understand the upgrade itch all too well, but in all honesty you could easily get several more years out of your system, especially if you are overclocking your CPU.

Here was a review of the 6600k, and it has the 3570k results as well for comparison.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-intel-skylake-core-i5-6600k-review

It's like 5-10% difference between 6600k and 3570k,sometimes even 3%...

Seems like it's not quite worth upgrading at this moment IMO...

Or am I wrong ?

Maybe it would be better to wait some time and then upgrade to 4k monitor, then to 1080 and afterwards new gen stuff like 6700k+dd4+z170 dunno...

That's what I'd do. You will not see a difference between your CPU and a 6600k (in benchmarks yes, not while gaming at 1080).

I'd save the money, put in a piggy bank until you are ready to make the 4k gaming plunge, because 4k gaming is a very pricey hobby, and you will lay down some serious money when you first enter it.

Even a GTX 1080 paired with a 6700k is unable to play all current games at max settings and stay above 60 FPS at all times. So, your budget will greatly depend on what your expectations are for 4k gaming.

So... almost 2,5 monhs have passed and I'm returning o the same question... : ))) As I understand, looking at my rig, there is no big sense in upgrading for full hd... Next best step would be entering 4k gaming?....

1080p by definition is "full HD", and that resolution shouldn't be a problem for your current system. If you want to do 4k gaming, you will need a GTX 1080 and obviously a 4k monitor. However, like I mentioned in my last post in July, even a 6700k paired with a GTX 1080 struggles to keep all games at 60 FPS and above. Nothing has really changed since you last asked this.

So if you can handle playing games under 60 FPS, or dialing the quality settings back on some games, you should be fine for a while with your current system and a GTX 1080.
